Clarksville man killed in highway accident


Clarksville – A Clarksville man is killed over the weekend following a one vehicle wreck on Highway 82 in Annona in Red River County.

31-year-old Noe (know-ee) Hernandez was reportedly attempting to pass another vehicle on the shoulder, but lost control when he re-entered traffic and overturned his vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to State Troopers.

Suspect at-large in Van Zandt County killing


Van Zandt – Authorities are seeking the whereabouts of an East Texas man wanted in a killing in Van Zandt County.

57-year-old Michael Maurice Dupree is accused of killing 72 year old Paul Marshall at a rural residence on VZCR 2142.

Dupree is believed to have fled in Marshall's 2003 maroon Dodge van with Texas License Plates X02-NVF.

He's considered armed and dangerous.

Silver Alert issued for missing Bonham woman


Bonham – Authorities have issued a statewide silver alert for a missing 71 year woman from Bonham.

Katie Jo Brewer was last seen at her residence on Carpenter Loop in East Bonham. She was reported missing by her husband on Saturday. Mrs. Brewer has been diagnosed with Alzheimers.

Katie Jo is described as 116 lbs, short gray hair, and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a navy blue and white horizontally striped shirt and navy blue pants, and is possibly barefoot.

Hunt County – Hunt County residents are asked to voice their opinions during a forum Monday night on what should and should not be included in national healthcare reform.

The forum will take place from 6-8 p.m. at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center in Greenville.

Arkansas woman sentenced for local robbery


Greenville – An Arkansas woman, arrested last month for stealing from the Greenville Wal-Mart, has pleaded guilty.

Nashira Jardena Walker was charged with robbery for having injured a store employee during the incident.

She pleaded guilty Thursday and was placed on six years of deferred adjudication probation, and fined $600.

Walker's alleged co-actor, Barry Hodges, remained in custody at the Hunt County jail Thursday; charged with felony theft in connection to the August 27 incident.

Amnesty period near end in Greenville


Greenville – Time is running out for those with outstanding warrants in Greenville.

Approximately 1,000 people still owe more than $1 million in fines and court costs to the City of Greenville. Any of those individuals could face arrest later this month, if they don't settle their debts within the next two days.

Those owing fines have today and tomorrow left in an amnesty period, which will allow them to clear their records before a planned crackdown by law enforcement.

Wolfe City ISD to hold dedication ceremony


Wolfe City – A dedication ceremony is set for Sunday for the new Sidney Wasson Multipurpose Center at Wolfe City Elementary school.

The public is invited to attend the event, which is scheduled for 2 p.m. that afternoon.

The former superintendent Wasson served the district from 1947 to 1986.
