Greenville – The Greenville Independent School District yesterday received the first reading of a proposed drug testing policy.
The Greenville Herald Banner reports the board did not vote to approve the first reading, but instead voted by a 6-1 tally to remove the reading from the consent agenda.
The item was removed reportedly because there was concern over wording and the policy's fairness.
One comment stated that testing the student seven calendar days from the first offense will not give the drug enough time to get out of the student's system.
