About 80% Of Solar Eclipse Will Be Seen In Hunt County

The director of the Texas A&M-Commerce Planetarium, Dr. Kent Montgomery, says the solar eclipse Monday (August 21)will be the first seen in the continental U.S. since 1979.  Dr. Montgomery says the eclipse will be about 80 percent viewable in Hunt County, starting at about 1 p.m. Monday.  The nearest place to Texas to view the eclipse in its entirety is Missouri or Nebraska.  It's important to have specially designed protective glasses to view the eclipse, and the Planetarium has free glasses in cardboard frames that it's giving away at its weekly programs at 7 p.m. Fridays.
