Annual Cooper Rodeo Celebrates History Of Delta County

The Delta Roping Club will be hosting the 69th Annual Cooper Rodeo starting Thursday, June 29 through Saturday, July 1, 2017. J&J Rodeo Company is the Stock Contractor with sanctions from UPRA, UPSU, CPRA, and LRCA. The added money is $5,000.

Thus far there are 350 contestants entered with some Wrangler National contestants.

“It is going to be a big rodeo and a big week for us,” said Delta County Judge Jason Murray. “We appreciate all our sponsors – big and small – for helping make this happen in Delta County.”

He was excited for this year’s parade as they will be doing a cattle drive from the Rodeo grounds to the Square on Friday night, June 30 at 5 p.m. during the Rodeo Parade.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 years with children under three being free.

Special Nightly Events include Grand Entry, Calf Scramble (10 and under), Jr. Barrels $40 (14 and under), and Boot Scramble (five and under).

The rodeo will commence each night at 8 p.m. Mike Mathis will be the announcer for the event along with funny man Rudy Burns.

Be sure to attend on Saturday night and enjoy some of the fireworks in the City Park. Everyone is invited!
