During his more than 20 years as a support musician, Texas' own Mike Flanigin made many friends who turned out to be a big part of his first album.

Austin's premier Hammond B3 organist Mike Flanigin is releasing his debut record "The Drifter" on Friday, August 21, featuring a who's-who list of featured Texas talent such as Gary Clark Jr., Kat Edmonson and Billy Gibbons. Mike checked in with Notably Texan from his home is Austin to discuss his path into the music business, his evolution from guitar to Hammond organ, and the unlikely manner in which this new record came together.

Keep up with the latest from Flanigin at his website, and you can listen to the entire "The Drifter" album via Rolling Stone.

Listen to Notably Texan, weekdays from Noon-3pm on KETR.
