Bonds Reduced in Firefighter Assault Case

A West Tawakoni man, accused of attacking firefighters trying to save his house last month, spent Christmas in the custody of the Hunt County Jail. William Alton Easterling, may be out by New Year’s Day however, after a judge agreed Thursday to reduce his bonds on charges of aggravated assault against a public servant.

An attorney was appointed for Easterling Dec.17.During a hearing Thursday, 354th District Court Judge Richard A. Beacom lowered Easterling’s bonds from $35,000 to $20,000 on each count.

Easterling was taken into custody after he allegedly attacked personnel responding to a fire at his residence.

Firefighters responded on the night of Nov.24 to a call of a structure fire at Easterling’s home on Ideal Circle in West Tawakoni.

Easterling was accused of attempting to run over the fire personnel working to bring the fire under control.
