COOPER - In a recent letter to Delta County Sheriff Gerald Teague from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards it was stated a recent re-inspection of the facility to be deemed in compliance.

After being found non-compliant on Nov. 21, 2011, all deficiencies were corrected in keeping with the minimum jail standards.  According to the letter dated Dec. 15, 2011, this accommodation “attests, signifies and demonstrates the department’s dedication and professionalism in providing a safe, secure and sanitary facility.”

The Sheriff said he was also seeking compliance following an incident between a male trustee and a female inmate to which the jailer was terminated. The incident was immediately reported to the authorities of Jail Standards and the Sheriff’s Department performed an investigation.
