It will only be a matter of weeks before voters in Hunt County join others across the state to begin casting ballots for the November general election.

The Hunt County Commissioners Court is scheduled today to take a step in preparing for the election, by ratifying the judges and alternate judges for elections for the the next two years.

Hunt County Elections Administrator Mina Cook is presenting the item before the commissioners as part of the regular agenda, starting at 10 a.m. inside the Auxiliary Courtroom, 2700 Johnson Street in Greenville.

While most races on a local level were decided during the May political party primaries, there are several statewide contests — including the Texas Governor’s office — which will be determined during the November 4 election.

September 5 is the first day to apply for a ballot by mail and October 6 is the last day to register to vote, or make sure the address is correct on the voter registration, to be eligible to cast a ballot for the election.

Early voting is scheduled October 24-31.
