The following is the information for the City of Greenville's Christmas events Saturday, including the parade:

—“Christmas at Farmers Market” will include story-telling, music, dancing and a visit from Santa Claus. Free cookies and hot cocoa will also be offered during the event, which starts at 1:30 p.m. in the Farmers Market with Christmas story time with Mrs. Claus. Santa Claus is expected to arrive at 1:45 p.m. for cookies and pictures; the announcement of the winners of the city’s coloring contest is set for 2:30 p.m.; followed by a performance from the Phoenix School choir at 3 p.m.; and a performance by the Studio A Dance Company at 4 p.m., right before the staging of the Downtown Christmas Parade begins at 5 p.m. Those wanting additional information about “Christmas at Farmers Market” can call 903-457-2994.

— The City of Greenville Downtown Christmas Parade, with the theme of “Home For the Holidays,” is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday. Staging for vehicles and floats is on Jordan Street, with vehicles entering Jordan from Johnson Street, facing east. As the parade begins and ends in different locations, entrants are being asked to select an off-site location to drop off and pick up riders and then proceed with caution to the staging area and from the endpoint. Entrants may arrive as early as 4 p.m. and no later than 6 p.m., due to the closure of surrounding streets. The parade route begins at the corner of Bois D’ Arc and Lee Streets; travels west on Lee; south on Wright Street; east on Washington Street and finishes at Stonewall Street, turning south to exit downtown. Marching units, horse entries and all vehicles not legal for normal street traffic will continue east on Washington to Market Square.

Judging begins at 5:30 p.m. with award categories to include Theme, Spirit of Christmas and Automobiles.
