Drought conditions improving for North Texas

droughtmonitor.unl.edu/

The U.S. Drought Monitor for the State of Texas released its latest report Tuesday, showing that for the first time some 20 months, a swath of the region was no longer listed under drought conditions.

A dividing line between areas that are reported drought free and those that are listed as abnormally dry runs through the middle of Hunt County, with areas to the northwest no longer under drought. Those counties include Collin, Fannin, Lamar and Grayson.

Another decent rain could remove the drought distinction from a number of other area counties that are on the cusp of becoming drought-free.
