Fannin Aiming to Lower County Tax Rate

Fannin County Commissioners are trying to continue a decade-long trend of lowering the county tax rate. The Commissioners proposed the fiscal 2018 budget Wednesday.

While the proposed tax rate of 0.589 cents per $100 of valuation is effectively flat compared to the current rate of 59 cents, it would be in line with Fannin County’s budgets since 2007. Since then the county tax rate has either gone down from the year before or remained flat.

The proposed budget factor’s in Fannin’s debt for the County Courthouse renovation project. A hearing on the budget is scheduled for Tuesday morning in Bonham.
