Fannin County Landowners Say Lake Zoning Rules Will Be Too Oppressive

Landowners near Bois d’Arc Lake say proposed zoning issues will hurt Fannin County residents and business owners. The county is looking to regulate all land within 5,000 feet of the lake now under construction.

At Tuesday’s County Commissioners Court  meeting, angry residents – many of whom are farmers --   say zoning proposals could lead to too much oversight over how residents live and farm businesses operate.

The County Commissioners say the proposals are intended to control congestion and traffic around the lake. They said Tuesday that proposed regulations would change little for landowners affected by them.

The next meeting on the issue is expected to be Oct. 30
