Gameday WBB Preview: Lions Look to Bounce Back Against Lubbock Christian

The Lions kicked off their season with the inaugural 1525 Tournament, 1-1. It began with a 70-67 victory over Metro State, then fell to No. 5 Colorado State-Pueblo after leading by 20 points in the first quarter, 55-52.

Lubbock Christian started off the season winning both contests in the 1525 Tournament. The Chaps snuck out a win against CSU-Pueblo despite being scoreless in the last 6 minutes of the fourth quarter, 57-52. In the second game it won in convincing fashion to Metro State, 71-53.

LCU posted a 19-11 record (12-4 conference) last season, making the conference title game before falling short of back to back conference championships to St. Edward's, 52-44.

Brianna Wise

Brianna Wise #2 (TAMUC) - Wise averaged 15.5ppg in the 1525 tournament. She had a career-high 24 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists to help the Lions in their first win of the season.

 

Tess Bruffey #54 (LCU) - Bruffey averaged 13 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks in the 1525 tournament. Despite struggling against CSU-Pueblo, only scoring 6 points, her team prevailed. She’s the only returning starter from the 2016 NCAA Women's Basketball National Championship team.
