In the grips of the Depression, times were very tough for the country in 1931. Farmers were offered a fraction of the worth for their goods, and some found no other option to make ends meet than home-brewed white lightning.

In the first episode of this new Grin-N-Bearit series, you'll find Jessie Blalock and his hard working family desperate to make ends meet, and hear the lengths they will go to in order to keep food on the table.

Hear The Grin-N-Bearit Show on the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm during Notably Texan on KETR, with a rebroadcast the following Saturday at 7.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Matt moved to the Sulphur Springs area in 1990 and settled in Commerce shortly thereafter. Having dreamed of working in radio since childhood, he began working at KETR while taking Radio-Television courses at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1993. Matt has transitioned from a part-time worker and pupil of KETR, to the station’s Chief Announcer/Producer and supervisor of student broadcasters. A familiar voice of 88-9 KETR, Matt has hosted such shows as The Late Nite Lion, and can currently be heard as host of Notably Texan.
