Greenville Native Cole Risner continues to turn heads with his latest album Better Man. Opting for more of an Americana sound, Cole recruited Hayes Carll's guitarist Travis Linville to co-produce the album, which features guests like John Pedigo from Dallas' The O's, and fiddler Heather Stalling, wife of Max Stalling.

Cole visited his alma mater, Texas A&M University-Commerce, to catch up with Notably Texan about the new record, including details about co-writing a track with area producer Brad Davis, and the interest he's generated from Gun Barrel City by his song of the same name.

More about the artist is available at his website. Notably Texan airs weekdays from Noon to 3pm on KETR.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Matt moved to the Sulphur Springs area in 1990 and settled in Commerce shortly thereafter. Having dreamed of working in radio since childhood, he began working at KETR while taking Radio-Television courses at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1993. Matt has transitioned from a part-time worker and pupil of KETR, to the station’s Chief Announcer/Producer and supervisor of student broadcasters. A familiar voice of 88-9 KETR, Matt has hosted such shows as The Late Nite Lion, and can currently be heard as host of Notably Texan.
