Ciara Holmes set a new career high in the Lions, 3-0, sweep of Ouachita Baptist.

The Texas A&M University-Commerce Lions got good nights from Amy Davault and Ciara Holmes and swept the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist University on Wednesday night. The Lions have won seven in a row over the Tigers. The Lions had 17 kills in each set and recorded eight blocks in the straight set win.

Holmes hit a career high .647 with 12 digs on 17 attacks with just one error. Davault recorded her second straight double-double and sixth in her last seven with her 13-kill and 12-dig performance. Taryn Driver and Breanne Snyder each had 8 kills on the night. Kayla Bond had seven kills along with two aces.

Jordan Neal recorded 45 assists and eight digs. Neal is now just 26 away from becoming the all-time leader in assists in A&M-Commerce history.

The Lions used an early set run to give themselves a 10-5 lead after a service error by the Tigers. Ouachita Baptist had a three point run to cut the lead to one at 14-13. Then a service error and kills from Holmes and Driver made it 17-13. The Lions closed the set on a five to one run that was finished off with an ace from Bond.

In the second set an early run made it 8-3 in favor of the Lions. The Lions held the lead and extended it to as many as six at 15-9 off a block by Davault and Driver. The Tigers cut the lead to four late but a kill from Davault and an ace from Michaela Spicer sealed the 25-19 set two win for A&M-Commerce.

The early stages of set three were back and forth with the teams splitting the first 14 points evenly. An ace from Jordan Neal gave the Lions a 10-7 lead and the Lions never trailed again. The Lions held off a few late pushes from the Tigers, including three ties in the set. A kill from Breanne Snyder sealed the sweep for the Lions.

The Lions have little time to rest with a key weekend road tip to Angelo State and Tarleton State in front of them. A&M-Commerce is looking for their first win in San Angelo since 2007 and their first win in Stephenville since 2009.
