Lions Stay Undefeated After Dominant Home Debut (Slideshow)

A&M-Commerce is starting out its season hot with no plans to cool off. The Lions stayed unbeaten on the young season as they steam rolled past Our Lady of the Lake, 111-64 at the Commerce Field House.

A&M-Commerce (3-0) came out strong in their home debut at the Field House putting up 111 points, six points more than any game last season.

Leading scorer in the game went to one of the newest additions on the roster. That would be, Tyree Robinson, who had a game-high 20 points and a perfect 9-for-9 from the field. An all around effort was brought by the Lions as everyone saw the floor, making contributions, with only one player not getting on the scoreboard. Trey Conrod was key with 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Also Preseason Lone Star Conference Player of the Year, Reggie Reid had a modest shooting night going only 4-for-10 but he did added six points, six rebounds, and a game-high eight assists.

Nearly half of the Lions points came from the second unit with 45 total bench points.

Head Coach Jaret Von Rosenberg has been one known to make sure his team is on top of things defensively. That effort was reflected in the victory against Our Lady of the Lake as the defense held its opponent to 25 first half points.

The Lions were able to force 11 steals and six blocks, also turning 18 turnovers into 27 points. The Lions bullied the Saints in the paint, allowing only 18 points in the lane.

As a team the Lions shot an impressive 52 percent from the field while holding Our Lady of the Lake to just 35 percent.

The Saints (0-2) have yet to pick up a win this season. At no point in the game did they hold a lead against A&M-Commerce, even falling behind as many as 50 at one point in the contest. The Saints were led by Zachary Mucha who contributed 14 points and 3 rebounds.

Next Matchup: Lions kick off a multi-game road trip beginning on Wednesday November 14 as the take on the University of North Texas in Denton at 7p.m.
