GREENVILLE - Elders of the Lakota Sioux say they’re frustrated over a lack of progress in the investigation into the death of a sacred white buffalo.
Lakota Ranch owner Arby Little Soldier thinks it’s unlikely that evidence gathered by investigators will be presented this week to the Hunt County Grand Jury. Sheriff Randy Meeks announced last week his team had concluded interviews in the case and was hoping the panel would review the information when it meets Friday.
"I talked to the DA and he said it could be a little further down the road," Little soldier told the Greenville Herald-Banner."
A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m. at his ranch.
Lightning Medicine Cloud was found slain on April 30, less than two weeks ahead of his first birthday. His mother, Buffalo Woman, was found dead the following day.
Little Soldier has been vocal in his quest for justice, telling reporters in the days after the killings, "I want to know who did it. And I want him found.”
