Long-Awaited Crossroads Mall Renovation Underway

Scott Harvey

The multi-million dollar project was announced in March as collaboration between the City of Greenville and mall owners.

It will move anchor tenants Bealls and Hibbett Sports into newly created spaces, while keeping Staples, Belks and JC Penny at their current locations.

Improvements include a new façade, relocation of leasable space, as well as improvements to the parking area and other aesthetic enhancements.

The city will pay the developer grant payments calculated on anticipated sales and tax increases. The agreement required the developer to begin construction within six months and make an investment of $10 million within the first 18 months.

Crossroads Mall opened in 1983.
