Man Arrested On Multiple Drug Charges

Delta County Sheriff’s Office continues to fight the battle against drugs. Following the execution of a search warrant, two more arrests were made at 240 West Marshall in Cooper, Texas.

“Even though we have made over 42 arrests involving drug dealers and hundreds of arrests for possession of illegal drugs over the past four years, our community is still having problems with illegal drugs,” said Delta County Sheriff Ricky Smith. “Our agency will continue to treat illegal drugs as one of our top priorities. Both drug dealers and users of illegal drugs need to get the message, don’t mess with illegal drugs in Delta County.”

According to the law enforcement report, methamphetamine, marijuana, illegal prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia and a firearm were recovered from the residence and property.  Additionally components for the manufacture of methamphetamine were recovered, although an active meth lab was not found.

Arrested was Michael D. Johnson, of Cooper, Texas, who was charged with Felony Possession of Controlled Substance (methamphetamines), Felony Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by A Felon, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana and Misdemeanor Theft of Property.  Additional charges are pending as related to the components for the manufacture of methamphetamine.  Angela M. Winnett, of Sulphur Springs, was arrested for Felony Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Misdemeanor Possession of Controlled Substance (Xanex), and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The search warrant was obtained after photos and videos of illegal drug activity, taken in the residence, were found on a recovered, stolen game camera.  The search warrant was executed by several members of the Delta County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Sulphur Springs Special Crimes Unit.
