Man Charged with Murder After 100-Mile Drive to Hopkins County

Sulphur Springs police Sunday arrested a man they say drove more than 100 miles across the state to dump a woman’s body, and then got his car got stuck in a ravine.

Police say 54-year-old Lucious Newhouse shot and killed a woman in Fort Worth then drove to Hopkins County with her body in the car. His car got stuck in a ravine near U.S. Highway 67, where police found him.

The body of the woman was found in a nearby field. Police did not release the name of the woman.

Newhouse was charged with murder and given a $1 million bond.
