Mobile Home Fire Takes Life in Delta County

At approximately 3:29 a.m. Wednesday morning a caller at FM 3220 in Ben Franklin reported a mobile home fire with occupants still in the location.

One resident was taken to Hopkins County Memorial. Hospital and later care-flighted to Parkland Hospital. The older resident died at the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but could possibly be electrical.

A fire investigator from Austin will be at the scene today. With high winds the fire spread quickly to the surrounding area.

The Delta County Sheriff’s Department is withholding victims’ names until family can be notified.

UPDATE at 12:29 p.m. December 19, 2012: Charles (Chuck) Owen Elms, 76, died in the mobile home fire on Wednesday morning in Ben Franklin.
