– The Department of Public Safety has already asked folks not to use fireworks this Fourth of July.
"We're very concerned that the combination of high temperatures, no rain and high winds are going to create some situations that will be very dangerous," says DPS spokeswoman Tela Mange.
Many Texas counties have burn bans and some are prohibiting the sale of fireworks. However, several Northeast Texas counties have not been officially regulated from burning.
Mange says fireworks aren't the only danger. Travelers throwing out cigarette butts, people parking in grassy areas or pulling off the road, and even bar-b-cue pits can pose a danger for starting big brush fires.
The bottom line, try to avoid things that will cause sparks or embers to land of dry grass.
