Mt. Vernon voting on double shot of alcohol measures

texasescapes.com

Voters in Mount Vernon will soon vote on two separate alcohol-sales measures.

Mount Vernon voters will vote on two alcohol-related ballot initiatives in the May 11 election.

One measure would make beer and wine sales legal for off-premise consumption. This would allow for beer and wine sales at grocery stores and convenience stores.

Another measure would allow for the sale of mixed drinks - i.e., hard alcohol - in restaurants.

City council races will also be determined, with four candidates vying for three positions. The candidates’ names as they will appear on the ballot are Saundra Dunn, Jeff Briscoe, Eddie Turner and Kenneth Shelton. Ralph Robertson is running unopposed for a one-year, unexpired term.

There are no Franklin County offices on this year's ballot.
