Murphy medal awarded at Farmersville ceremony

Farmersville native and World War II veteran Audie Murphy was posthumously awarded the recently created Texas Legislative Medal of Honor during an Oct. 29 ceremony in Farmersville. Murphy enlisted in the Army at age 17 after Pearl Harbor and earned the U.S. Medal of Honor at age 20. Murphy also earned two Silver Stars and three Purple Hearts.
