Motorists in Commerce likely noticed more traffic than usual Friday morning as Commerce and University police personnel were directing traffic around an accident at the intersection of Culver and Monroe St.Eyewitness accounts indicate that a westbound Commerce ISD school bus had been rear-ended by a small sedan before 7:40am at the stoplight. The exact time of the collision isn't yet known. Damage to the bus appeared minimal.
According to the CISD transportation office, there were "only a handful of high school students" onboard the bus at the time, none of whom sustained injuries. The students were transferred to a different vehicle and transported to school leaving the bus behind while the incident was investigated.
