Ohio artist "blooms" after transplant to Central Texas

D.C. Bloom was once a professional speech writer for names such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and even The FBI, but these days his writing efforts are focused towards original songs instead.

Since moving to Texas around 2009. D.C. Bloom has found his place among fellow singers and songwriters in the Austin scene. His latest record "The Rest Is Commentary" is now available, and features guest appearances from Claude "Butch" Morgan, Chip Dolan and others. D.C. spent some time with Matt Meinke on a recent episode of Notably Texan to talk about the new record, life in Austin, some adversity he's overcome, and his presence on social media.

For more about the artist, visit his website, or Reverbnation to stream D.C. Bloom's songs.

Notably Texan is heard weekdays from Noon-3pm on KETR.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Matt moved to the Sulphur Springs area in 1990 and settled in Commerce shortly thereafter. Having dreamed of working in radio since childhood, he began working at KETR while taking Radio-Television courses at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1993. Matt has transitioned from a part-time worker and pupil of KETR, to the station’s Chief Announcer/Producer and supervisor of student broadcasters. A familiar voice of 88-9 KETR, Matt has hosted such shows as The Late Nite Lion, and can currently be heard as host of Notably Texan.
