Interstate 30 is scheduled to be closed at Rockwall from 10:30 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 11 to 6 a.m. on Sun., Feb. 12.

If you plan taking Interstate 30 through Rockwall later this week, better allow yourself some extra time if your journey could happen late at night or in the early morning.

The Texas Department of Transportation has planned a complete reconstruction of the intersection of FM 3549 and I-30. In Rockwall, FM 3549 is known as Stodghill Road north of I-30 and Corporate Crossing south of I-30. The overhaul will involve destruction of the FM 3549 bridge over I-30 and the eventual construction of an I-30 overpass above FM 3549.

Weather permitting, the project will begin at 10:30 p.m. on Wed., Feb. 8, with the removal of the bridge over the eastbound (south) frontage road, which should be completed by 6 a.m. on Thu., Feb. 9. Removal of the bridge over the westbound (north) frontage road is scheduled from 10:30 p.m on Thu., Feb. 9 to 6 a.m. on Fri., Feb. 10. Traffic will be re-routed from the roads where work is occurring.

Demolition of the bridge over the main lanes of I-30 is scheduled from 10:30 p.m. on Sat. Feb. 11 to 6 a.m. on Sun., Feb. 12. All of I-30 will be closed in the area near FM 3549, and traffic will be re-routed along frontage roads.

The complete project for improvement FM 3549 in the vicinity of I-30 is estimated to conclude in August 2018 at a cost of $32.8 million, according to a City of Rockwall news release.
