– Jurors in Kansas have returned a guilty verdict for a former Greenville resident charged with four counts of capital murder.
James Kraig Kahler was alleged to have shot and killed his wife, their two daughters and his wife's grandmother. The shootings occurred over Thanksgiving weekend in 2009, near Topeka, Kansas. Kahler's son was able to flee from the residence unharmed.
The Kahler family lived in Greenville about 12 years ago. James once worked as a senior engineer for the local electric utility system, while his wife Karen used to be employed at a Greenville athletic center.
Defense attorneys had contended that James Kahler snapped because his wife was having a lesbian affair and pursuing a divorce. Prosecutors argue the killings were premeditated. Kahler could get the death penalty upon sentencing Monday.
