Ray Wylie Hubbard divines 16th album

Fortunately for us, the new album "The Ruffian's Misfortune" shows the Texas troubadour as his best, growling out his signature evocative, gritty, and often poignant lyrics over roots and blues sounds provided in part by his guitarist son Lucas Hubbard. No auto-tune or heavy effects here - just raw, pure, unbridled music captured as it happened in the studio.

Hubbard took time between tour dates to talk with Matt on Notably Texan. Topics ranged from his upcoming autobiography, to his unforgettable appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, Ray's appreciation for bands such as The Bright Light Social Hour, and the often uncredited work behind the scenes by his wife Judy Hubbard.

Notably Texan is heard weekdays from Noon-3pm on KETR.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Matt moved to the Sulphur Springs area in 1990 and settled in Commerce shortly thereafter. Having dreamed of working in radio since childhood, he began working at KETR while taking Radio-Television courses at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1993. Matt has transitioned from a part-time worker and pupil of KETR, to the station’s Chief Announcer/Producer and supervisor of student broadcasters. A familiar voice of 88-9 KETR, Matt has hosted such shows as The Late Nite Lion, and can currently be heard as host of Notably Texan.
