Longtime Delta County Precinct 1 Commissioner Rip Templeton recently announced his run for office.
“I would like to take this means to announce my intention to run for re-election for commissioner, Precinct 1,” said Commissioner Rip Templeton to the citizens of Delta County.
He explained his heritage in Delta County as his ancestors came to this area now known as Delta County in the 1850s from Ireland, Scotland, Germany, England and France. He can trace his ancestry back to early settlers included Robert Fayette Templeton, Cornelius Butcher McGuyer, Henry Slakey and Hut Nabors.
He was born and reared in Delta County, attended the first two years of school at East Delta, graduated from Cooper and what is now Texas A&M University in Commerce. After serving two years active duty in the US Navy, he worked for and retired from Texas Instruments in Dallas. After retiring Templeton moved back to his roots and build a home in the Sharptown Addition of Charleston.
The Commissioner is married to the former Mary Ann Graves of Paris, a retired teacher. Together they have two boys and six grandchildren, all living in the Metroplex.
“I will try to visit with each of you before the election in March to ask for your vote. For those of you that I miss, please consider this as my personal solicitation of your help, your vote and your influence,” said Rip Templeton in appreciation for support. “I look forward to continue serving the citizens of Delta County and Precinct 1.”
