Eastern spring turkey hunting season is about to expire in several Texas counties. Fannin, Grayson, Lamar, and Red River counties are on that list.
And if it seems like the season was shorter this year, you’re right. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission shortened Eastern spring turkey season by a week. That was along with a spate of other changes to the state’s hunting and fishing regulations for this year. The season still closes as of Monday.
Other changes for 2018 include expanding dove hunting through December and January in some parts of Texas and adding antler restrictions to mule deer hunting season. The changes officially take effect on September 1.
