Shane Smith knew he wanted to go "all in" to the music business after the first time he heard one of his songs on the radio. Now several years into that career, Shane Smith and The Saints are known for their energetic live shows across the Southwest and beyond.

The new full-length album "Geronimo" jumps headlong into new territory for the band, with sounds that range from rock to Celtic to Cajun, showcasing the unique sounds and harmonies that Shane and The Saints have evolved into over the years.

Shane spoke with Matt during Notably Texan November about topics ranging from the importance of public radio, to his humble beginnings in Northeast Texas.

More about the band, including social networking links and touring schedule, is available at www.shanesmithmusic.com.

Notably Texan airs weekdays from Noon to 3pm on KETR.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Matt moved to the Sulphur Springs area in 1990 and settled in Commerce shortly thereafter. Having dreamed of working in radio since childhood, he began working at KETR while taking Radio-Television courses at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1993. Matt has transitioned from a part-time worker and pupil of KETR, to the station’s Chief Announcer/Producer and supervisor of student broadcasters. A familiar voice of 88-9 KETR, Matt has hosted such shows as The Late Nite Lion, and can currently be heard as host of Notably Texan.
