Southern Soul continues to gain momentum

By day, members of an area band do everything from retail sales to crime solving, but by night, they crank up the amplifiers and jam out music to both new, and hardcore, fans.

With their top billing in the 2014 Hopkins County Battle of the Bands, Sulphur Springs band Southern Soul exploded on to the area music scene. The band now looks to bigger things, such as more original music, bigger live shows, and a full length album. Drummer Ryan Brown, guitarist Jacob Mazoch and lead singer/guitarist Adam Hall check in the KETR Studios on Monday to chat with Notably Texan.

Southern Soul performs Friday night, Feb 20th in Commerce at The Drunken Mule.

Notably Texan is heard weekdays from Noon-3pm on KETR.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Matt moved to the Sulphur Springs area in 1990 and settled in Commerce shortly thereafter. Having dreamed of working in radio since childhood, he began working at KETR while taking Radio-Television courses at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1993. Matt has transitioned from a part-time worker and pupil of KETR, to the station’s Chief Announcer/Producer and supervisor of student broadcasters. A familiar voice of 88-9 KETR, Matt has hosted such shows as The Late Nite Lion, and can currently be heard as host of Notably Texan.
