SPCA Of Texas Seizes 15 Animals in Hopkins County

Yesterday the SPCA of Texas and the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office seized 15 animals from an abandoned residence in Como. The eight dogs, five puppies, one quarter horse and one pony were taken into temporary custody by the SPCA of Texas’ Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit, which then delivered the dogs and puppies to the organization’s Rescue Center and the horses to the Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center in McKinney.

In a release, the SPCA of Texas said that neighbors reported several complaints about the quality of life for the animals before Hopkins County authorities and the SPCA of Texas obtained a warrant to move forward with the removal of the animals. The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office may file criminal charges in the case, but a decision has not been made. A court date has been set for the owners of the property for July 7.
