Texas A&M University-Commerce Alumni Center director Derryle Peace and student Homecoming Committee representative Deepti Chadee say the theme of the 2017 homecoming Saturday (October 14) is "Our Century As Lions," observing the 100th anniversary of the University becoming a state institution. Events revolve around the homecoming football game featuring the 11th-ranked A&M-Commerce vs. Western New Mexico at 4 p.m. Saturday.

They should be taken to Landon's Winery in downtown Greenville. The theme this year is "Lifter Upper," a parody of the home-improvement TV show "Fixer Upper." Hunt County Historical Commission chairman Carol Taylor says the commission is seeking proposals for new historical markers, especially in areas outside of Greenville. Carol says proposals can relate to a particular event as well as a building or place. The next meeting of the organization will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 26 at the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum in Greenville.
