Susan Gibson: "Texans are raised on music, its part of their heritage"

Susan Gibson

Life has taken many twists and turns for Wimberly singer/songwriter Susan Gibson. She toyed with the notion of being a park ranger for a time, before realizing the songs she'd been writing were good - so good that The Dixie Chicks picked up the Gibson penned song "Wide Open Spaces" and turned it into the title cut for their 1998 Grammy award winning record.

Gibson recently checked in with KETR from the porch of her Wimberly, Texas home to talk about her new EP Remember Who You Are.

More about Susan's upcoming gigs and more is available at her site.

Listen to Notably Texan weekdays from Noon-3pm on KETR,

Born in Dallas, Texas, Matt moved to the Sulphur Springs area in 1990 and settled in Commerce shortly thereafter. Having dreamed of working in radio since childhood, he began working at KETR while taking Radio-Television courses at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1993. Matt has transitioned from a part-time worker and pupil of KETR, to the station’s Chief Announcer/Producer and supervisor of student broadcasters. A familiar voice of 88-9 KETR, Matt has hosted such shows as The Late Nite Lion, and can currently be heard as host of Notably Texan.
