Texas Still Expensive for Homeowners

Dollar for dollar, Texas  is still one of the most expensive states in which to own a home. 

A new report by WalletHubranked Texas the sixth most expensive place to own in the U.S. The state’s  tax rate is 1.9 percent , just ahead of Wisconsin, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Illinois, and New Jersey. The Texas property tax rate has been consistently among the harshest since at least 2010.

Texas also ranked 13th in median home price prices, at 136 thousand dollars.
