That's Mow Like It: Commerce Girl Joins Effort to Mow Lawns for Those Who Can't

Adam Frazier

Alabaman Rodney Smith Jr., the man crisscrossing the U.S. to mow lawns for free for the elderly and disabled, made it to Texas Tuesday. But he’s not the only person mowing Texas lawns for a good cause.

Fox affiliate TV station K-12 reported that a 9-year-old Commerce resident Estrella Cruz, nicknamed “Lawnmower Girl,” is one of 1 30 kids nationally taking part in the 50 Yard Challenge. That’s a national program for kids who want to mow the lawns of older or disabled neighbors who can’t do it themselves.

If she completes it next, Cruz will be just the 13th kid in the country to do so.
