Two Delta County residents arrested for copper theft
By Scott Harvey
PARIS - More arrests are possible in a string of copper wire thefts in Lamar County that’s already landed two suspects behind bars.
The Paris News reports that Arthur David Chancellor and Donna Jo Chancellor were arrested Wednesday morning.
The vehicle in which the two Delta County residents were riding had broken down and as a sheriff’s deputy stopped to help, he noticed a large amount of rolled highline wire inside. Also observed were binoculars, gloves, a wire cutting pole and flashlights.
The newspaper reports the wire is believed by authorities to have been stolen from poles and lines of Lamar County Cooperative.
