Unrelated Murders in Lamar, Collin Counties

A pair of unrelated murders took place within the past few days in Lamar and Collin counties.

In Princeton, police are looking into the death of 46-year-old city resident Kelli Underwood, whom police originally thought might have committed suicide. According to police, Underwood's body was found at her home on the 1100 block of Park View Drive on Sept. 20. Medical examiners later determined that the fatal gunshot wound was not self-inflicted.

Princeton police are working with the Collin County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers on the case.

In Lamar County, a 19-year-old Paris man who turned himself in has been charged with the murder of an as-yet-unidentified man at the 1000 block of 16th Street NW. Police say Asa Coker called them Sunday to say he had killed someone around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

The victim’s name is not being released until family has been notified.
