KEVIN JEFFERIES
Operations Manager

As KETR Operations Manager, Kevin Jefferies is responsible for making sure you hear what you’re supposed to be hearing on FM 88.9 and ketr.org.  Since 1998, KETR listeners have heard Kevin in multiple roles.  Kevin also has many behind the scenes responsibilities, including the supervision of student broadcasters.  Kevin is a graduate of the Radio-Television program at Texas A&M University-Commerce.  A nearly lifelong resident of northeast Texas, Kevin is an alum of Ford High School in Quinlan.

Scott Harvey
News Director

The newest member of KETR’s full-time staff is News Director Scott Harvey.  Scott comes to KETR from KXCV/KRNW, the public radio stations based at his alma mater, Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.  Among Scott’s responsibilities were news reporter, staff announcer, and assistant producer of the Bearcat Sports Network.  Scott has also worked in commercial radio in St. Joseph, Missouri, and the student managed and operated FM station at Northwest Missouri State.  Scott was born and raised in Shenandoah, Iowa, the hometown of the Everly Brothers and the Blackwood Brothers.

DR. BILL OGDEN
The Bluegrass Special

Dr. W.R. "Railroad Bill" Ogden has been playing bluegrass music on KETR since
1983.

By day Bill is a professor in Educational Leadership at Texas A&M University-Commerce. By nights and weekends he's an active musician who plays the guitar, mandolin, and bass in a number of area bands. He calls himself a "survivor of the western New York folk music scene," where he opened for groups such as the Lettermen and the Beach Boys. Bill is married to the lovely Nancy from Wisconsin, and they have three children. The couple lives in Commerce.

DEBORAH SMITH
Administrative Secretary

1993-a year that will live in infamy at KETR.  That’s when Deborah Smith learned of a position available called "traffic secretary".
Intrigued by the idea of reporting on Commerce traffic from the station helicopter, Deborah inquired about the job.

While she has the title of Administrative Secretary, Deborah is the matriarch of the KETR family.  She is the first smiling face you see and the first smiling voice you hear when you call the station.

In addition to being “Director of First Impressions”, Deborah translates the instructions she receives from all the guys to create KETR’s daily program schedule.  She handles KETR’s business office functions.  You’ll see her at station events.  She’ll help keep KETR on-air when everyone else is out of the station.  She can take care of your contribution to KETR and schedule underwriting announcements.  Just don’t ask her to talk on the radio.

Deborah Smith was drawn to the Commerce area by a 110-year-old home she felt needed her attention. We’re glad she was drawn to make KETR her second home.
