More jobs; unemployment down in Hunt County

Hunt County – More jobs created in Hunt County in July, but the unemployment rate is still higher than this time last year. More than 200 jobs were created last month and local unemployment dropped. The rate is still higher than last year, however, and is one of the highest county rates in the region.

The 5.7% unemployment rate was down from 5.9% in June, but over the 5.4% for July of last year.

Delta County had the highest rate in the Dallas-Plano-Irving Metropolitan Division at 6.2%; with Dallas County following at 5.8%. Collin County was lowest at 4.2%; with Rockwall next at 4.3%.

Unemployment rates for other surrounding counties were:
Fannin County - 6.2%
Hopkins County - 4.6.
Lamar County - 6.1%.
Rains County - 4.8.
Van Zandt County - 4.7%.
