Bonham lifts watering restrictions

By Kevin Jefferies

Bonham – The City of Bonham has lifted mandatory watering restrictions after rains over the weekend. Bonham had been in Stage 2 of drought contingency since August 4th. Recent rainfall and cooperation from citizens had lowered peak demand on the city's water pumping system, and the system is now readily keeping up with demand.

Other areas remain under mandatory watering restrictions, however. Recent rains were a welcome sight, but Northeast Texas remains one of the driest areas in the state, and lake levels are still very low.
