Celeste – Another area school has closed due to a high absentee rate, bringing the number of school closures in the region to five this week alone.
Celeste ISD has cancelled classes for the remainder of the week, including next Monday. The announcement comes a day after Campbell, Trenton and Como-Pickton ISD's announced closings because of high absenteeism. Boles ISD has been closed since Tuesday.
Other area schools show mixed signs in attendance, with some showing improvements from the previous week, while others are inching toward that 15% absent rate threshold.
