Trial to begin in 2007 shootout

By Brad Kellar

Royse City – A Royse City-area man faces trial this week in connection to a 2007 shootout with law enforcement officers.

Jury selection is set for Monday for Johnny Joe Webb, who has pleaded not guilty to seven counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant.

The indictments allege Webb fired on two Royse City Police Department officers, as well as five sheriff's deputies. Hunt County Sheriff's Deputies had responded to a domestic disturbance on Nov. 11, 2007 when Webb allegedly fired multiple times at the officers from his residence on Bear Hill Road.
