Early voting for runoff election begins Monday

By Scott Harvey

– Beginning today, area residents can cast their vote early for the April 13 runoff elections.

The election represents the top two vote-getters on March 2, who were unable to receive at least 50 percent of the vote.

In Hunt County, Commissioner for Precinct 2 Incumbent Ralph Green will face Jay Atkins. With no Democratic or other party candidates in the running, the GOP runoff will likely determine the winner of the race.

It's a similar case for the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4 race, between Republicans David McNabb against Jim Johnson.

Wayne Money and Sheila Linden will attempt to claim the Republican Party nomination for Justice of the Peace Precinct 1, Place 2. The winner will face Sandra Kay Linson-Bell in November.

In Hopkins County, the Commissioner Precinct 2 Democratic party primary race will come down to a runoff between Mike Odell and Rudy J. Eillis, with the winner facing Republican Trey Hinton.

There will also be a runoff of the Republican Party primary race for Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, Place 3, between Rick Green and Debra Lehrmann.

The final day to vote early is April 9.
