Greenville – A giant construction project will soon begin in Greenville, as the council Tuesday awarded a bid for a new wastewater treatment plant.
The bid was priced at $21 million to Gracon Construction of Mesquite for the wastewater reclamation center.
Preparation work for center has been underway for years. In the fall of 2007, council approved the sale of $20 million in bonds to pay for the project.
The current Reclamation Center just east of Interstate 30 on Division Street is in need of a complete upgrade in order to comply with the requirements of the city's wastewater discharge permit and to meet projected growth.
