Williams to be sentenced for aggravated assault

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Sentencing is scheduled today for a Greenville man who took an unauthorized stroll from the Hunt County Courthouse after being convicted of aggravated assault.

Randy Lee Williams was placed back in jail May 17, almost three weeks after hearing the guilty verdict and then walking away from the courthouse before a sentencing hearing could be conducted.

Following a two-day trial, Williams was found guilty by a jury on April 28 of assaulting a male victim in Greenville last year. Williams allegedly beat the man unconscious, requiring the individual to be hospitalized.

Williams has 11 prior convictions on his record, according to the prosecution motion, including nine felony convictions.
