West Tawakoni – State District Judge Joe Leonard has now ruled that West Tawakoni Police Chief Jack Schultz will stay in the position for the time being.

Schultz was suspended and a police officer was fired in October, allegedly due to their allegiance to the Tea Party movement.

On Dec 20 Judge Leonard will decide whether to issue an injunction preventing Schultz from being fired pending a full trial on the matter.

Mayor Pete Yoho and City Administrator Clay Richards fired the one officer then suspended Schultz, and then also filed legal action seeking to remove City Councilwoman Carol Solomon, who countersued.

All of the litigation is still pending.
